Hanginey Hawks' Story
Haringey Hawks' Story
The Haringey Hawks were formed by coach Franck Batimba as a way of bringing young people in the community together and making a difference in their lives through basketball.
Basketball provides a positive outlet for young people in an area with a high risk of gang crime. It builds confidence and gives them a focus and something to aspire to.
It also breaks down barriers. The team is made up of young people from all different backgrounds. They don’t look at their differences, they look at their common goal.

Each year, the Haringey Hawks compete at the London Youth Games. It is a proud moment for the players who get to test themselves against the top teams from across London.
Success at the London Youth Games can lead to national championships and even the chance to play in competitions overseas.
Four of the London Youth Games 2019 winning team received scholarships to attend top universities in Europe and America, where they can further their playing careers and education.
Franck is a role model to his players. He instils confidence, self-belief and a sense of community pride into his team, a winning formula to ensure they achieve on and off the court.
