London Youth Games and The Kevin Campbell Foundation Partner to Drive Growth in Girls’ Football

Today, London Youth Games and The Kevin Campbell Foundation announce a first-time football partnership that will bring benefits for all London Youth Games football participants.
Kevin Campbell Foundation are a Charitable Organisation, created by the family of Kevin Campbell, as a result of the former professional footballer’s passing in 2024, at the tender age of 54. The Foundation aims to support young people to participate in sporting and developmental activities, to empower and enable them to realise their full potential.
Inspired by Kevin’s passion for supporting communities, the Foundation’s aim is to build a legacy to Kevin, that has a lasting impact.
The partnership supports two key Football events in the London Youth Games 2024-25 season: Girls Primary Skills Football Festival at Redbridge Sports Centre and the Girls Open Games Football tournaments at Tooting and Mitcham FC. Together, the partnership enables hundreds of girls aged 7-15 to take part, have fun and compete in the beautiful game. The welcoming and inclusive events help to break down barriers and continue to foster a long-term love of the game – helping to reduce inactivity and prevent youth disengagement.
Importantly, the partnership involves creating a new ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ in Kevin’s name. The criteria will be created by LYG33 and have team spirit, hard work and overcoming adversity as core elements. Nominations for the award will be completed by peers and coaches.
The partnership will also provide inspiration and role models for the young participants, with event trophies awarded by The Kevin Campbell Foundation representatives. The young people will proudly represent themselves, their boroughs and communities.
Andy Dalby-Welsh, London Youth Games CEO, said: “This exciting partnership with The Kevin Campbell Foundation is a game-changing moment for football in London. Too many girls are dropping out of sport and physical activity during their teenage years so working closely with The Kevin Campbell Foundation will support us in inspiring and enabling more young people to gain a positive experience of football that will continue to have a significant impact on young people’s physical health, mental health and social development.”
The Founder and CEO of the Kevin Campbell Foundation, Kevin’s sister, Lorna Campbell said “We are honoured to be working in partnership with LYG, who share our ethos of the power of sport being able to change lives. We are proud to impact and extend the growth of women and girls participation in grassroots football.”
