Massive congratulations to Hilmy for making history as the first wheelchair racer to represent Tanzania at the Paralympics in Paris!

Hilmy’s journey began at the London Youth Games, where he proudly represented Ealing. Reflecting on his early days, Hilmy shared, “Representing my borough was always one of the biggest things for me. My first London Youth Games wearing the Ealing top was really special for me. I wasn’t expecting to win a medal at all and I got a silver that day. I surprised myself and it was a massive buzz. I told myself that if I keep coming here every year, who knows what will happen.”

He did keep coming back, and his dedication led him to break the 100m and 200m records for wheelchair racing. For the last 12 years, Hilmy has been training with Jenny Archer MBE and David Weir CBE, who both founded the Weir Archer Academy. Hilmy now also captains the team.

Yesterday, Hilmy competed in the T54 100m heat, marking an extraordinary journey from Ealing to Paris. His achievement is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport. Congratulations from all of us at London Youth Games – we’re incredibly proud of you, Hilmy!
