We kick off the new year with our first ParaGames Competition & Paralympic sport, Boccia!
Using a huge amount of skill and precision, players will take it in turns to aim their balls closest to the target ball known as the “jack”.
Boccia can be adapted to include all disabled people and provides the opportunity to be active, develop teamwork and hand/eye coordination skills.

The following age categories are eligible to compete in this event:

Each school is permitted to have a minimum of 3 participants and a maximum of 9 participants to field a team.
This competition is a pan-disability event. Teams should be made up of players with severe learning disabilities, physical impairments or profound and multiple impairments, in particular wheelchair users.
Visually Impaired (VI) players please see rules of play 6.4.3. The competition is open to young people who fall under BC 1-8 of the Boccia Classifications outlined here.
Young people who fall into the below impairment groups are eligible to take part:
Group | Impairment | Descriptor |
G1. | Wheelchair User | Power chair or manual wheelchair user |
G2. | Ambulant | -Standing with 4 limbs affected
-Standing with 1 or 2 lower limbs affected -Standing with 1 or 2 upper limbs affected. |
G3B. | Sensory-Visual Impairment | Anyone with a visual impairment which impacts their daily lives.

G4. | Severe Learning Disability | Anyone who has severe difficulties with pattern recognition, sequencing and memory, as well as having slower reaction time. They are likely to need support in communicating their needs and understanding abstract or complex ideas. This category includes low functioning, Level 3 autism. |
The deadline to submit team entry and school representative is;
22:00 Wednesday 12th February 2025.
A school must be entered by a School Games Organiser, or nominated team manager in advance of the deadline listed.

There is no cafe onsite. Please bring your own refreshments.
Both are available at the venue. However, we strongly recommend coming changed ready for the activity.
Parking: There is parking onsite.
Tubes and Trains: nearest station Mitcham Eastfields-Thamkslink (15 minutes walk).

Accessible parking bays, Accessible changing room, Accessible toilet with a hoist.
There will be a quiet room for any young people that need to use it.
