London’s most talented cross-country runners will be out in force when the highly anticipated London Youth Games (LYG) cross country event returns next weekend.
All 32 London boroughs and the City of London are set to take to the start-line at Hampstead Heath’s Parliament Hill on Saturday 17 November with the race marking the official opening of the 2019 London Youth Games season.
Athletes will compete across eight events, with prizes being awarded for individuals, team winners and overall borough female and male champions.
Organized in partnership with the South of England Athletic Association and the City of London Corporation, which manages the Heath, competitors representing their boroughs will race in male and female Under 11s, Under 13s, Under 15s and Under 17s races, with their results recorded and added towards an overall borough score to determine the male and female borough cross country champions.
This year Great British athlete and former five-time LYG cross-country champion, Sabrina Sinha, will present medals to the winning runners.
Bromley were victorious in the male and female cross-country events in 2016 but were beaten to the line by Wandsworth in the male category last season. What borough will reign victorious this year and be crowned Cross Country Champions 2019?
