LYG33

LYG33 is a youth engagement and leadership programme that empowers young Londoners to influence the future of London Youth Games and sport.

By supplying a platform for young people to display their passions and abilities, this programme encourages and nurtures 14-21 year olds from London to develop themselves and influence the future of London Youth Games and youth sport in London. The programme builds their confidence, leadership skills, and sense of community investment. Through participating in LYG33, young people can build lasting relationships with their peers, coaches, and mentors, and learn valuable life skills that will serve them well in the future.​

LYg33 are a group of passionate 14-24 year-olds who are using their voice through representing the 33 boroughs of London whilst gaining development opportunities, accessing exclusive experiences and participating in exciting projects.

 

Last year 34 members of the LYG33 Youth Engagement programme were supported through AQS Accreditations. 

LYG33 applications are now closed for the 2024/25 season. If you or someone you know is interested in taking part in the 2025/26 season, please register your interest below to be the first to hear when applications open.

What to expect?

Members attend multiple fun, engaging and developmental sessions across the season. These will include supporting LYG events, accessing exclusive experiences, inspirational speakers, interactive workshops and sessions to have your input on the future of LYG. In the past cohorts, the LYG33 group have had visited Wembley Stadium, Twickenham, Wimbledon, BBC Sport Studios, met professional athletes, delivered speeches at LYG events and led exciting projects.

 

LYG33 members who successfully complete the season, will be awarded an LYG Award in Youth Engagement & Leadership in Sport, accredited by recognised body Associated Sports Qualifications (ASQ).

Safa

CHAIR

Safa is a  student from Brent who is interested in all manners of sports, from javelin to volleyball, especially from a youth-voice perspective. She studies History, Politics and Sociology at A-Levels and wants to work in political journalism/international relations when she is older. Alongside these passions, she enjoys karaoke, trying different cuisines, MUN and knitting.

EALAF

Vice-Chair

Ealaf is a Student from Hammersmith and Fulham, who is passionate about youth voice and increasing youth participation within sports for all. She currently studies Biology, Chemistry, Maths and English Literature. In addition, she is passionate about politics, representing her borough as the Member of Youth Parliament, as well as being a rower who also rows, volunteers and is a youth ambassador at her club.

JULIA

VICE-CHAIR

Julia is a student from Hounslow, studying Maths, Biology and, Physics. She enjoys playing volleyball and watching a multitude of other sports with her family. Outside the world of academics and sports, she loves spending time with her two dachshunds and younger sister. Julia wants to improve sports opportunities across London and, to increase participation in these events- such as LYG!!
I am a third year management science student at the UCL School of Management. I grewup playing sport and it has always been an important part of my life. Business DEVELOPMENT LEAD

Viv is a music and sports scholar at his School. He plays county-level cricket and hockey, has competed in academy tennis overseas, and enjoys skiing and gym training. In music, Viv holds Grade 8 in both trumpet and singing, and is also proficient in playing the guitar, piano, and cornet.

MARKETING LEAD

Leah is a student studying Maths, Chemistry, Physics, and Art. She loves to engage in physical activities such as volleyball, running, and weightlifting, and during her free time, she also enjoys creating art, playing video games, and connecting with friends. Leah is keen to get involved with her community and help more people partake in sports around London.

Sophie is a student from Ealing studying Maths, Biology, Chemistry and French. She is back for her second year at LYG33, having been Workforce lead last year and loving it. Her main sports are tennis, swimming and running.

Micah is a student from Lewisham. He is passionate about ensuring that all young people feel heard and valued. In his free time, Micah enjoys spending time with family and friends, and has recently taken up roller skating as a hobby.

KYA

EVENT DELIVERY LEAD 

 

Kya is a student from Waltham Forest. She loves music and dance. Kya enjoys and does well in athletics and most team sports. She also really enjoys socialising with family and friends. She is passionate about equal opportunities especially within sports.

Timi is a university student from Brent who is passionate about increasing sports participation for under represented groups and aspires to have a career in sports governance and development.

Andrea

Andrea is a student from Ealing with a strong passion for promoting youth voice. She is dedicated to encouraging participation in all sports, particularly tennis and rugby. As a coach for the Minis, U8, and U12 tennis teams, she plays rugby for Wasps and Middlesex and dreams of one day representing England in women’s rugby. Outside of sports, Andrea enjoys watching science documentaries.

Felix is a student and a competitive swimmer, as well as a volunteer coach for a group of U9 swimmers. In his free time, he enjoys playing the oboe, both solo and in a band.

ISHAN

SPORTS LEAD

 

Ishan is a student from Hillingdon, with a passion for involving young people in politics. As well as playing cricket at the county level, Ishan enjoys weightlifting, and also competes in International Robotics, where he won an award whilst representing the UK at the World Championships.

Jack is a classified T54 wheelchair racer who regularly competes at a national level. His preferred distances are 100m, 200m and 400m. He is currently studying for a level 3 BTEC Business with Sport and Exercise Science award. Jack believes it’s important to empower people to lead fulfilling lives, regardless of any barriers they may encounter.

Julia is a Year 11 student from Hounslow who is determined to improve sports opportunities in Southwest London. She currently attends volleyball training and hopes to compete with a team again after her GCSE’s! Julia also loves animals (especially her two dachshunds) and spending time with friends and family 🙂

Amelie is a year 10 student from Haringey who is passionate about inclusive sport. She has participated in many LYG events herself and has been a sports leader supporting younger children. Alongside this, Amelie is a keen scientist and a talented artist.

Daniela is In the GB Rowing Performance development academy, rowing near the Docks In Newham, attends St Angela’s Ursuline school in forest gate and is very committed to sports and school, preparing for GCSEs In 2024, very busy lifestyle overall, but enjoys it always with a positive attitude.

Felix is a Year 11 student from Kensington and Chelsea and attends education in Westminster. He is a competitive swimmer and coaches a group of U9 swimmers. He also enjoys playing water polo and football and plays the oboe.

Jadon is a year 12 student currently studying business at college, but is passionate about running, cycling and generally keeping fit! When Jadon is not enjoying sports, he’s creating music as he plays the drums, keyboard and the trumpet in an orchestra!

Amber is a Year 10 Student who lives in Lambeth and studies in Croydon who loves sports. Amber is passionate about sports being a place where people can be themselves and wants others to have the feeling of community in sport that she has had. She aspires to be a Professional Netball Player in the future. Amber likes to spend her weekends playing Netball, Korfball and Hockey and spending time with her family.

Lara is in year 10 and thrilled to be part of this year’s LYG team. She has a huge passion for sports and thoroughly enjoys the performing arts. Lara does vocational ballet and is GA for her netball team.

Ayesha is a Year 10 student who loves to watch West Ham play in the leagues. She is passionate about hockey too and and coaches the u8’s at her hockey club. Alongside this, Ayesha loves to socialise and can make new friends quickly.

Talia has taken part in a wide range of sporting activities whilst also umpiring competitions and teaching kids dance classes. Talia also attends these dance classes herself, and frequently goes running and likes to try and challenge herself by going on 5/10 k runs as she is a short distance runner.

Randy from Greenwich is a third year student doing a degree in Sports Business and Sports Law at UCFB Wembley. His favourite sport is football and is a Liverpool Fan. Randy also has interests in going gym and watching tv series and movies.

Harrison is a full time sports coach, who works with children of all ages on a variety of sports. He is a football lover and heavily involved in his own U7 grassroots football team!

Maria is a Year 11 student from Southwark who loves biology and playing volleyball! She also enjoys swimming and running as she’s been doing them since she was young. Alongside this, Maria plays the piano and sings and her hobbies are listening to music and trying new foods.

Zairah is a Year 12 student from Ealing who is passionate about getting involved with and encouraging people to take up sport and be healthy. She is a sports leader at her school so helps with PE lessons with the year 7 classes weekly. She participates in Athletics, cross country and netball. As well as this, Zairah loves art and design and enjoys her studies in English, French and History.

Zieger is currently on a graduate scheme who plays Handball competitively for Islington outside of work. He is also currently working on his coaching and table officiating qualification for Handball and is keen to promote the sport further in London. Zieger is a keen traveller with aspirations to travel the world.

Poppy is a year 10 student with a passion for swimming. She trains up to 14 hours per week and competes at a national level in long distance events. She enjoys helping teaching at her swimming club and wants to start a career coaching future athletes.

Dylan is in Year 10 at School in South London currently studying Art, GCSE PE, Spanish, and History. Sport is a really important part of his life, his two main sports are Rugby and judo, as well as skiing competitively. He plays Rugby for his school and his local team, Battersea Ironsides. He thinks it is extremely important that young people take part in sport because of the benefits it has for their health and mental well-being.

Sam is a Year 12 student from Kingston upon Thames studying Sports and Exercise Science. He is a keen T34 wheelchair racer and competes nationally enjoying track and road races. He would like to be a coach in wheelchair racing for England Athletics one day. Sam also likes gaming, swimming, and going to the cinema.
