We’re delighted to announce that we’re working with Street Tag for a 6 week-challenge to get young people and families active in their local area.

The challenge rewards children for walking or cycling by giving them a chance to collect points and be in with a chance to win goodies.

London Youth Games are teaming up with Street Tag to launch a new challenge to schools on 20 February.

Street Tag is excellent at bringing together families and school children and staff to be physically active, by turning their streets into a virtual playground.

During the Street Tag experience, participants record their distance walked, run or cycled by scanning virtual tags with their smartphone at various locations.

Schools can then watch their total distance accumulate to climb up on the Schools leaderboard, creating competition, being physically active, connecting with green spaces, an opportunity to rediscover their area and earn prizes.

HOW IT WORKS FOR SCHOOLS:

Virtual tags are placed in popular walking routes and areas with green space to encourage secondary activity.

Users walk, run or cycle to virtual tags which are placed on the app’s interface.

Tags are worth an average 50 points per tag. Once users are near/within a 40-meter radius of a tag, the player receives the points which helps the School to move up the leaderboard.

At the end of the leaderboard seasons (resets every 12 – 14 weeks). The top 3 or more School PTA’s are given performance bonus prizes. There are various other prizes for parents and children during the leaderboard seasons.
