We are delighted to announce that after a very competitive application process, we have selected 12 brilliant young people to the LYG33 Leadership Team for the 2024/25 season. The group will be led by the passionate and ambitious Safa, from Brent as Chairperson alongside two fantastic returning members Ealaf from Hammersmith & Fulham and Julia from Hounslow.

The LYG33 Leadership Team’s role is to:

1. Feed youth engagement into each area of London Youth Games by working with a designated member of staff.
2. Lead on Co-Production projects which provide young people skill and experience development whilst supporting LYG to achieve strategic objectives.
3. Support the planning and delivery of LYG33 meetings and events to ensure young people are involved at every level of the programme.
4. Lead and manage LYG33 Team Members at sessions and within projects.

LYG33 members will play a key role in our collaborative efforts across the youth sport sector and in youth leadership. We want to amplify youth voice to shape and influence the work of the wider sector and enable opportunities for LYG33 to connect with other youth voice and leadership groups.

Prof Geoff Thompson MBE FRSA DL QP JM, London Youth Games Chair, said “The youth voice is a vital contribution in shaping, developing and delivering the London Youth Games experience going forward and we are delighted to welcome Safa, Chair of LYG33, who will serve as a full Board Trustee. This will provide us with a real tangible and impactful contribution for and on behalf of the LYG33 Committee and all young Londoners.”

During the programme, LYG33 Leadership Team Members get access to 1-1 support from an LYG staff member, a Gold or Silver LYG Award in Youth Engagement and Leadership in Sport, accredited by Associated Sports Qualifications, experience working in the sports industry, access to exclusive experiences and much more.

Each young person on the team brings different experiences, perspectives and ambitions which will play a crucial role in how we shape our offer moving forward.
